Just three days after the presentation of WauSearch, a filter has been added that may be of great interest to all users of the search engine: the ability to display only those results that are not present in Google—in other words, the alternative results that WauSearch identifies as complementary. Its usage is very simple: perform an initial search, then select the «filters» menu and toggle «on» in the «Not in Google» section. WauSearch automatically performs the screening, cross-referencing the information and displaying only those results that do not appear in the Google search engine.
Figure 1. Basic search in WauSearch with the test query «Referencistas CSIC» yields 5,319 results.
Figure 2. Screenshot showing the application of the new «Not in Google» filter to the performed query.
Figure 3. The number of filtered results is reduced to 3,349, corresponding to content unavailable on Google.
This original idea comes from a distinguished user, my friend and esteemed professor Dr. Manuel Sánchez de Diego (member of the QueryThink research team and editor of the blog A vueltas con el Estado), who closely follows all developments of this search tool. I wish to extend a warm greeting to him from mblazquez.es for his insightful suggestions.
