The closure of Google News in Spain has become one of the most discussed topics on the Spanish web and in major specialized media outlets, among both experts and users, many of whom have been left orphaned of a fundamental service for managing, organizing, and filtering daily Spanish information.
In response to this situation, a first prototype of a news portal has just been developed, named AXYZnews, similar to Google News, which will be available for use by any user despite the implementation of the Intellectual Property Law.
Thanks to research conducted during the development of the RESYNC platform for the investigation of syndicated content, an information system has been created that aggregates a larger number of sources from Spanish media outlets. It also includes various search and filtering mechanisms that will facilitate effective reading and selection of news.
Although the launch date has not yet been finalized, it is estimated that AXYZnews could be operational by the end of January or February of next year, 2015.
