As previously announced on May 6, 2014, research, innovation, and development work began on a large-scale project concerning search engines and information services.

Today, I can report that one of the outcomes of this work is an experimental search engine whose primary objective is to provide an alternative search service for users while simultaneously serving as a research platform to address some of the questions posed:

What would happen if one day a documentary service were discovered that even Google does not offer? What if this service could potentially be used by any user who employs a search engine? Why do we use search engines in one way and not another? What do we truly use from the Web? What information do we need in our daily lives? What search philosophy do we unconsciously hold?

The new search engine can handle simple or highly complex queries, tailored to any type of habitual or experienced user. Although the name of the search engine cannot be disclosed until the indicated date, it can be anticipated that it incorporates innovations in design, usability, and user experience that have not yet been integrated into major search engines, including features that will prove highly useful.

This search engine will be presented in a "Sneak Peak" format on December 9, 2014, from 9:50 to 10:00 a.m., in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Documentation Sciences, as part of the Professional UpdateT Event organized by SEDIC and the Department of Library and Information Science. Prior registration is required to attend. In addition, a more comprehensive extended presentation of the search engine will take place on November 15, 2014, in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Documentation Sciences, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Admission to both events is free until capacity is reached.

Therefore, I invite all readers and followers of mblazquez.es to attend these presentations or follow the upcoming news regarding them.
