AMPdoc mblazquez edition is a portable distribution of Apache, MySQL, PHP, and Perl that includes a curated selection of documentation applications for libraries, archives, museums, publishing houses, conferences, and documentation centers, enabling tasks such as workflow management, content publication, web positioning, and more. Traditionally, the installation of necessary applications and their configuration complexities have limited access to these technologies among information professionals. With AMPdoc mblazquez edition, any information professional can utilize various documentation environments according to their needs, without having to perform installations or hardware changes, and with the added advantage of being able to run them on any computer with a Windows operating system. This development helps democratize Documentation Technologies by providing technological support and promoting a trend toward modernization and updating within our field of knowledge.

AMPdoc does not require any special installation. Simply download the compressed file in ZIP format, extract it to the hard drive or USB drive where you wish to work, and launch the program from AMPdoc.exe. The program automatically loads a Firefox browser session displaying the distribution’s entry page, providing access to all installed applications, either through the available program menu or from a detailed table containing all necessary information for managing each documental application, including the username and password, official documentation, and website for each application.

An example of use

An archivist may need to describe the documentary groupings of their institution, but also manage their archive’s website, official blog, monitor web positioning, and stay updated on syndication channels and news published by related institutions. These multidisciplinary tasks, common among information professionals, can be carried out more conveniently using a distribution like AMPdoc. All that is required is to download, extract, and run AMPdoc on a Windows operating system—from the computer’s hard drive or an external USB drive—then select the desired applications via the menu system: in this case, Archon, ICA-AtoM, WordPress, Drupal, and Tiny-Tiny RSS—and immediately begin focusing on what truly matters: archival or documentary work. This is just one of the thousands of possibilities that a distribution like AMPdoc can offer information professionals; all that remains is for you to share your own use case.
